Water Rafting in Rishikesh

The summers are about to kick in and while some of us are going to crib and pull our hair because of heat, the adventure enthusiasts would pack up their bags and head out to places for water sports. Next is Shivpuri which is 18km from Rishikesh. IT starts in mid-Oct and ends in June. Ideally, it costs Rs 1000 per person. It is the best selling rafting as there are many camps nearby which offer camping.

Marine Drive (26km) is mostly popular among corporate groups. During the rafting, you can also enjoy cliff jumping. The cost is around Rs 1500 and approx time is 3-4 hours.

Byasi is gaining due to greater distance (35km) and thrilling rapids these days.

Kaudiyala will put your strength and stamina to test. This is 40km long with rocks, high and irregular waves. The cost is Rs 2500 and approx time is 4-5 hours.

Devprayag is a 2day trip that needs proper physic and stamina. It is like a real test and experience for serious water rafters. This being 75km long stretch takes 2 days to complete. Costs around Rs 8000 per person.

Now when you know the basic pointers for white water rafting, next will be the essentials you need to have with you to make this an unforgettable experience. Here are a few pointers on what to pack for this kind of trip – 
Air dry clothes – Just take into account the number of days and activities in your itinerary and pack accordingly. Shorts, t-shirts (or other light synthetic quick-dry clothing) are the best choice. Don’t forget thermals if you are going in winter.

Functional footwear – Ditch your flashy shoes at home and wear comfortable footwear like airy rubber sandals with straps. Pack in extra pair of camp shoes or hiking shoes for treks and off-river activities.
Bare essentials – Don’t venture onto the river without your oar, life jacket, and helmet. A flashlight and first aid box always come handy.
Everything else – Binoculars and camera to capture those life-altering moments on the rapids.

Select proper stretches as per your convenience.
Rafting is banned after sundown due to safety reasons. Do not try to force an attempt after 3 pm.
