7 Yummy Yet Healthy Midnight Snacking Ideas For Night Owls

Does your growling stomach interrupt your binge-watching sessions? Or you are the one who needs some fuel to carry out late night work? Then you are a night owl like me, my friend! Trust me, I am one of those people, who struggles every night to decide what to eat.

Unhealthy and fried foods can lure you, but if you are midnight snacking daily then I would suggest you go for healthier options only. The food that goes into your system at night needs to be very light and easily digestible.

So, give rest to your taste buds by hogging on to something tasty and healthy. Here, are some of my go-to midnight snacking recipes, that can curb your hunger and are healthy as well.

  1. Milk

For the laziest bums out there, a glass of milk is a boon. It can kill your hunger as well as help you in relaxing to get a sound sleep. If plain milk makes you nauseous, then try milkshakes or simply add some chocolate in it.

  1. Fruits/Dryfruits

As we have started with healthy and easy options, raiding your fridge might help. Open your fridge, grab the first fruit you see, and there you go. You can even pair your favorite fruits with some yogurt or simply make juice. Not willing to take that pain too? Have some dry fruits, nuts, or dried berries and your tummy will be full in no time.

  1. Popcorn

Yes, you read that right. Popcorn can lead the trail of midnight snacks if you are ready to take some effort. You can have them in any flavor you want to satisfy your taste buds without the intake of a single calorie.

  1. Roti Wrap

If you are willing to drag your bums to the kitchen and take some pain, then roti wraps or Frankie can be a delicacy to devour. Spread the sauce of your choice on the chapati, add some veggies such as onion, tomato, cabbage, or capsicum, top it with a seasoning or chutney and roll it tightly. Your hungry will vanish in a wrap or two.

  1. Jhal Muri/Chatpati

Looking for something tangy or spicy, try this dish that is famous in every Indian household, known by different names viz, Jhal Muri, Chatpati, Churmuri, and so on. You will need puffed rice/murumura/mamra, onion, chillies, tomatoes, salt, spices of your choice, lemon juice, and some oil. Mix everything together and enjoy!

  1. Chilla (Personal Fav)

If you think this dish can ask for loads of effort, then you might be a tad bit wrong. As for me, this is a dish that takes the least time and ingredients. Take some gram flour, salt, pepper, garlic(optional), and water. Mix together, take a pan, sprinkle oil, pour a ladle of batter and cook brown on both sides. Your yummy chickpea pancakes are ready to delight your tongue and tummy as well.

  1. Mug Cake

Now, if you have a sweet tooth and you are ready to do some cooking to satisfy it, then mug cake is one of the easiest options for you. In a microwave-safe mug, mix all-purpose flour, salt, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and baking powder. After mixing them well, add milk and oil to it. Whisk together and microwave it for 2 minutes on high. Your mug cake is ready to be dug.

Bonus: Greek Yoghurt

Yummy, healthy, fulfilling and you can choose your favourite flavour too.

Being a regular midnight snacker, you have to choose health over taste otherwise you can risk your health. Summing up, these dishes have so far served my hunger and are healthy as well, so what are you cooking tonight?
